“And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
—Acts 1:8b
Why Jerusalem?
This part is simple: I’m starting from home, from my community.
In a few short weeks, I retire after a (mostly) satisfying career in public education. In the Spring of 2021, God began working on my heart, preparing me for change. I did not know what that change would be, but I was determined to chase the call he had for me. He eliminated any perceived obstacles to my retirement, and through a series of events He designed, I was offered a position to help build an upper school curriculum and serve in an administrative role at a young, classical Christian school in my community.
There is nothing special about me other than I am a sinner saved by God’s grace who needs to walk closer to Him. Working with teenagers has been my mission field. I cannot say I always shared my faith while on the job, but I did always live my faith while working within the parameters allowed by public education. I am looking forward to educating from a Biblical worldview and having deep conversations about humanity and our world with students.
Reflection and Support
I want to be purposeful in this Substack. It is a documentation of my journey into CCE and a place where I can pause and reflect on what I am researching, observing, learning, and thinking. My hope is that others who are interested in CCE as an educator, parent, or grandparent will find value here as well.
While I am finishing my work in my current job, my posts may be limited to one a week, but once I am in my new position, I plan to regularly post on Mondays and Thursdays.
